Earlier this month (November), police were made aware of allegations concerning the behaviour of a 57-year-old male teacher at a primary school in the Southern Highlands.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad made inquiries into the matter and on Wednesday November 25 they arrested a 57-year-old man at Bowral Police Station.
The man was subsequently charged with 13 counts of aggravated indecent assault, before being granted conditional bail to appear before Moss Vale Local Court on January 5, 2016.
In court, police will allege the teacher indecently assaulted seven different girls, all of whom are students at the primary school the man most recently taught at.
The offences are alleged to have occurred throughout 2014 and 2015.
The man is not currently performing any teaching duties at the school.
The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
