A NEW Highlands cricket venue was launched this week.
The Southern Highlands Christian School's new cricket pitch and oval was unveiled in front of a large crowd on Monday.
The whole school community and Highlands cricket enthusiasts attended the event.
The presentation concluded a year-long project.
Funding was made possible through the NSW Government, NSW Cricket's McDonald's Community Grants and the school.
Guests included NSW Blues cricketer Will Somerville, Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell, McDonald's Mittagong licensees Marcelle and Peter Bain, Bradman Foundation executive director Rina Hore and Councillor John Uliana.
Former Southern Highlands Christian School principal Will Gardner was also among the attendees on Monday.
Gardner was a driving force behind the project and the new facility was named in his honour.
Current school principal Andrew Middleton said it was fantastic to unveil the pitch and oval.
Middleton said he hoped the venue would be used by the Highlands District Cricket Association (HDCA) in the near future.
"I want to build up cricket in this school," he said.
"The plan is for the HDCA to use our facilities... it's a fantastic, quality pitch.
"This pitch is one of the small examples of the partnership that we enjoy with our Lord."
Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell said it was an "absolute delight" to be part of Monday's presentation.
"I'm a bit of a cricket tragic.
“I am very much looking forward to having a go on this pitch," he said.
