Rehearsals for this year's Southern Highlands Youth Arts Council (SHYAC) family musical have taken place and Conundrum opened to a great audience last weekend.
A talented cast of 60 Southern Highlands youth aged eight to 17 have been working hard at rehearsals of Conundrum for the past few months in preparation for the show.
Conundrum is an original musical, suitable for the young and young at heart, written by Australian playwright and composer Tim Tuck.
SHYAC manager and director Mandy Bransgrove said Conundrum was packed with great, original songs.
"The choreography is fabulous, the costumes bright and beautiful and it has a warm-hearted, clever and humorous script," she said.
The plot involves the joke gnomes, who invent the world's riddles and rhymes, jokes and jollity and lyrics and limericks.
The gnomes are working on the definitive book of humour, The Great Book of Jokes, but two troublemakers plot to replace the fine humour of the gnomes with evil puns.
"Cast and crew members have laughed throughout rehearsals and we can't wait to share all our hard work with the local community."
"I encourage everyone to come along and support this very talented young cast, and a wonderful community collaborative event," Mandy said.
