GLENN Gliese and Peter Morales are Bowral's handicap pairs champions.

Gliese and Morales received the trophy following a 26-25 win over Barry O'Brien and Dennis Beatty recently.

This was Gliese's first championship title.

He took up the sport 12 months ago.

From the start, O'Brien and Beatty gave their opponents a 12-shot handicap start.

But they won the first five ends and only trailed 12-8.

O'Brien and Beatty clawed back the 12-shot start with a good all-round display.

Gliese and Morales had a slender 15-14 lead after 11 ends.

Over the next three ends, Gliese and Morales picked up eight shots and this put them in the box seat for victory.

Gliese and Morales led 26-16 with four ends to play.

On the 18th end, O'Brien and Beatty held three shots, when Gliese made a perfect draw shot.

On the next end, O'Brien and Beatty held four shots when Morales cut it back to two shots.

O'Brien and Beatty changed tactics on the 20th end.

They went for a longer end.

This paid dividends for O'Brien and Beatty when they picked up four shots.

After giving up a massive lead, O'Brien and Beatty trailed by three shots with on end to play.

At the finish, Gliese and Morales won by one shot to take home the 2015 the title.

Consistency singles

THREE consistency singles matches were held at Bowral last Wednesday.

Bruce Clynes defeated Barry Werfel by 151-129, with Clynes playing more draw shots.

Paul Sproge defeated John Edmonds by 157-108.

Sproge played controlled bowls throughout the game.

Jeff Williams recorded a 153-83 win over Howard Lewis.

Williams gave a way a 24-shot start but powered away for a solid win.

Several other matches were held on the day.

Social bowls delay

There will be no social bowls played over the next two Saturdays at Bowral Bowling Club.

These matches won't be held due to the Mittagong RSL Shield being contested.
