To celebrate, Bowral Cricket Club (BCC) has announced a new initiative intended to take player opportunities to another level.
The BCC board is encouraging a shift towards more equal batting and bowling arrangements to maximise player participation, particularly among junior teams.
The move is intended to see all players bat and bowl as often as possible to build up the experience and confidence of individuals and strengthen teams overall.
It follows feedback from players and parents who participated with BCC last season, a season that saw record registrations at the junior level.
Team captains, coaches and managers are being asked to adhere to the spirit of the initiative.
Foremost in mind is a desire to ensure that newcomers stepping up to under-12 competition cricket can look forward to equal opportunities when playing.
BCC chairman Angus Humphreys said this was a move to make Sir Donald Bradman's first cricket club "even better".
"It's a common story at cricket clubs that young players of less ability and confidence end up spending too much time on the sideline, and as such they don't always progress as well as they should," he said.
"The bottom line is we want everyone who comes to Bowral Cricket Club to get a fair go.
"It's important that players with more experience and natural abilities are allowed to shine, but equally important that players with less ability and experience are given chances to progress."
Humphreys said last season's BCC grand final teams were proof of the merit of sharing on-field opportunities.
"Our two under-12 grand final teams, for example, were made up of players with differing strengths and abilities," he said.
"Both sides progressed so far because the players were given so many chances to play and improve during the season."
Humphreys said Bowral's third grade side had similar success.
The team had a large contingent of junior players.
"Our thirds went all the way to the grand final largely because the captain decided to share batting and bowling opportunities around from the start of the season," Humphreys said.
"That lifted the whole team and everyone's enjoyment of the game.
"It's good for the individual, the team, the club and the game of cricket when everyone is included, encouraged and recognised."
BCC is arranging some pre-season warm-up friendly fixtures involving junior and senior players and parents.
