Principal clarinetist of the Royal Australian Navy Band Andrew Doyle is the featured soloist for the concert, bringing a wealth of experience to his Bowral performance.
In addition to his position with the navy band, he is also principal clarinetist of The Metropolitan Orchestra and has enjoyed many solo opportunities on clarinet, including performances of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto to a sold-out City Recital Hall in Sydney.
Andrew has performed with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, is a casual clarinetist/bass clarinetist with the Australian Opera and Ballet Opera and principal bass clarinet for the Sydney Philharmonia.
The talented musician constantly researches 18th century performance techniques, especially those particular to wind instruments and the clarinet. This research led to an invitation to present a paper about early clarinet style at the 2013 Australasian Clarinet and Saxophone Conference.
To be conducted by Dr Allan Stiles, this weekend's concert will include a range of works by Mozart and Brahms.
Tickets are available through The Brown Bookshop in Bowral and at southernhighlandssymphonyorchestra.com.
Concerts will be held at 7.30pm on Saturday, August 29 and 2.30pm on Sunday, August 30 at Bowral Memorial Hall.
