HIGHLANDER Charlie Dummer continues to make a big impression.
Highlands District Cricket Association (HDCA) player Charlie Dummer travelled to Coffs Harbour last weekend for the State Under-17 Male Challenge.
Dummer took part in the annual event between two metropolitan and two country cricket teams.
A round-robin format was played over the three days.
Dummer's team, Country Maroon, remained undefeated during the tournament.
In game one, Country Maroon completed its 50 overs and finished on 9/239.
Dummer batted at number three and joined captain Matthew Gilkes at the crease.
The pair added 94 runs for the second wicket.
After Gilkes fell, Dummer continued to attack and he top scored with 61.
In reply, Metropolitan Black was dismissed for 195.
In game two, the Maroon fielded first and Metropolitan Blue accumulated 223 runs.
In reply, the Country team past the target for the loss of six wickets.
Dummer scored 32 and played a significant role in a second-wicket partnership of 98 runs.
Game three against Country Purple was cut short due to wet weather.
The Maroon team batted first and scored 8/283 in 50 overs.
Dummer didn't score runs.
The Purple was comfortably placed at 3/188 when the umpires called a halt to the day's proceedings.
State promotion
AT THE conclusion of the state challenge, selectors met to decide on the makeup of the state team.
Dummer - along with fellow Southern Zone players Matthew Gilkes, Skelly and Tom Englebreght - gained selection in the team.
They will travel to Brisbane for games against the other states from September 26 to October 8.
An under-16 Cricket Australia team has been added to the draw.
From this carnival, an Australian under-17 team will be selected to attend the 2016 Under-19 National Championship.
Cricket presentation
THE Country Cricket NSW presentation was held at Coffs Harbour during the State Under-17 Male Challenge.
Dummer's Country coach Scott Moran, a Highlands resident, was recognised as the country coach of the 2014-2015 season.
