Hot Canary Gourmet Meats and Simon's Gourmet Butchery both picked up awards last Wednesday at the Australian Meat Industry Council's Regional Sausage King Competition.
Owner of Hot Canary Gourmet Meats, Daniel Speranza said he was "absolutely ecstatic" about the results.
"It's just the best thing that could've happened," Mr Speranza said.
"I think it'll give us a lot more exposure given that we're not on the main street. It will make us a destination shop which is my long-term goal."
Hot Canary Gourmet Meats picked up four first place awards in three categories including Traditional Australian, Australian Lamb/Open and Continental.
Mr Speranza recently moved to the Highlands after previously living in Sydney and discovered it was the right place in which to continue his trade.
"I came down here and fell in love with the shop and the area," he said
"I've been managing the shop for about four months and just decided to buy it."
While it was a tough competition, Mr Speranza believes there are a few things helped his business across the line.
"Quality meat, local produce, good service and being up-to-date on how to cook absolutely everything - that's what I think made us stand out from the crowd," he said.
"It was a fiery competition and everyone did their best."
Owner of Simon's Gourmet Butchery, Simon Pyne said he was "very excited and very overwhelmed" by his performance in the competition.
"You're always striving to be better - I've been here for 18 years now,"
"It's good to get recognition for what you love doing."
Simon's Gourmet Butchery received a number of awards including first place in the Poultry category.
