The support of family and friends can make the early days of motherhood a less stressful experience, but for a busy lady with a newborn bub in tow, meeting new people isn't always easy.
This was the case for Bowral mother-of-two Keiran Robson, who moved to the Highlands just under two years ago with her husband Richard and their then three-month-old son, Alfie.
"When I lived in Sydney I was a member of an online mothers group, and when we came to the Highlands I couldn't find any groups here," she said.
Mrs Robson, who is now also mother to three-month-old Finley, felt she had "missed the boat" on joining a mothers group, having relocated when Alfie was so young.
"I thought I'd start my own group online and see where it would take me."
Which is how Facebook group 'Southern Highlands Mums and Dads' came to be.
The group was founded in October 2013 and is now a go-to online community for more than 1000 Highlands parents.
"The group has grown steadily, but now that we have more members it's growing even faster," Mrs Robson said.
"I used to know all of the members personally and we'd have meetings for coffee fairly regularly but now we've had to organise a larger scale get together."
That was Mrs Robson's inspiration to host the first Mums Do networking event, which will take place on July 7.
Mrs Robson said the day would be the first in a series of networking events, which were designed to bring mums, dads, grandparents and carers together in a friendly setting.
There will be two speakers at the July event who will give a short presentation on how to look good in under five minutes.
"We have a lady by the name of Jackie Biceski who is an Arbonne Cosmetics consultant, and also Narelle Lucas, a personal stylist.
"The ladies will give a quick presentation on how to pull yourself together and give yourself a polished look in five minutes," she said.
The networking event will also include a high tea and goodie bags put together with items donated from local businesses.
"When people buy their tickets they have the choice of ticking a box to say they would like to be introduced to another attendee when they arrive so they're not on their own for long," said Mrs Robson.
"It's obviously a kid-friendly event and there will be changing facilities available."
