THE invective and irrational tirade presented by Sarah Hennessy in her observations on an activity by the Southern Highlands Hospice in auctioning a donated mink fur coat is a tired 1980s tactic wrapped in extremism and closeted in hypocrisy.

Reservations about some elements of the fur industry, dishonest and emotive allegations relating to live skinning of animals are disturbing and symptomatic of a poisoned mindset.
The reference to live skinning is only supported by a single video produced in China in 2006 by an extreme animal protection cult.
Not a particularly sound basis for a balanced and considered observation.
The letter is demeaning and insulting to the many charitable volunteers who work for the Southern Highlands Community Hospice.
Her reluctance to make any donation to this organisation will not be missed.
