The Moss Vale High School student traveled to Derby, Tasmania, last weekend for the MTBA Marathon National and came away with the gold medal.
Evans arrived at the Nationals in good form thanks to great support from the Southern Highlands Cycling Club, McGees Cycling and a solid training program.
On a testing course, Evans attacked from the start and gapped the field on the first climb.
That gap widened as the race went on and she crossed the line for a comfortable win and her first national title.
Local Highlands success continued at the championship.
Karen Evans took silver in the masters division and Meg Patey from Colo Vale claiming gold in the grand masters.
