On the weekend of May 2 and 3, Serendipity Choir joined the Cantelina Singers of Wagga Wagga for a choral workshop led by the internationally renowned Australian conductor and composer Stephen Leek.
Mr Leek is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the acclaimed choral ensemble The Australian Voices.
He has been composer in residence to numerous organisations including Gondwana Voices, The St Peters Chorale and the Sydney Children's Choir and has been commissioned to compose works for prestigious choirs in Australia, USA and the Netherlands.
The weekend was an intensive vocal workout for all singers with Mr Leek concentrating on many aspects of good choral singing particularly tonal quality, dynamics and interpretation.
The weekend culminated in a short concert with both choirs performing a segment each before they combined to perform two pieces, "Hey Rain" and "Botany Bay" which had been rehearsed under Mr Leek's direction.
The choir is currently rehearsing for its mid-year concerts. One was last weekend and the next is on Saturday, May 30 in Bundanoon Hall at 3.00pm.
Tickets are on sale Brown Bookshop, Moss Vale Village Pharmacy and Todds Real Estate.
