THE BOWRAL Bowling Club's pennant selectors' task has finished for the season.
Ashley Lewis, Brian Porter and Mick Spong had a busy time as selectors.
Bowral had grade three, grade five and grade seven sides in the Southern Highlands District Bowling Association's pennant competition.
All three sides can look back and see the games Bowral crashed in, which made them fall just short of taking out a pennant flag.
Grade Three
BOWRAL'S grade three side ended the season on equal points with Camden, but came second on a count-back over the season.
Camden had a plus seven scoring to Bowral's minus four.
The season came down to the last match at Campbelltown.
At one stage, one Bowral rink led 20-1.
The rain came and players were quick to get off the green.
On the resumption of play, the heavy greens helped Campbelltown get back into the match.
Bowral won by six shots, but fell short on the overall shots for the competition.
Grade Five
BOWRAL'S side finished second to Bargo.
Just two points separated the two teams over the season.
The damage for Bowral was done in the first two matches which it lost.
From then on, Bowral confirmed it would give the competition a shake by winning its last four matches.
But the side paid the penalty of a slow start to just fail by two shots.
Grade Seven
THE Bowral grade seven had a great season, finishing top of its section undefeated.
Bowral played Camden RSL in the final.
But this was the end of the road and in an epic final, Bowral fell short by two shots, 57-55.
It was a blunder by Bowral over the last three ends that sealed the team's fate.
Bowral led on the master board and had been in red hot form all season.
But when the pressure was on, it was Camden RSL that did the scoring and a pennant victory was secured.
