The NRL decided to extend the application process for the program due to a high level of interest.
Applications will now close at midnight on Sunday, May 24.
The NRL Rookie is a new reality TV series that will give one lucky amateur player the chance to turn professional with an NRL club.
The program will be broadcast in Australia across the Nine Network in 2016, as well as internationally on television networks that will be announced later in the year.
To date players, have applied to take part in the NRL Rookie from Australia, Bosnia, Canada, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Phillippines, Turkey, Jamaica, Lebanon, Syria, the UK, UAE and the US.
The application deadline has been extended to ensure that no stone is left unturned in the search for the next NRL superstar.
