I was fortunate enough to see the pride and passion etched on the faces of many at the Dawn Service at Rocky Hill, Goulburn, and again at the 11am service at Bowral.
Across the command your police attended more than 20 services, not only in the larger areas of Yass, Goulburn, Crookwell and Bowral, but also our smaller towns such as Binalong, Bigga, Collector, Exeter, Suttons Forest and Bungonia, just to name a few.
The number of children who attended was amazing and it was special to see them wearing the medals of their family members.
I was very pleased that from a policing perspective there were no issues at any of these services.
As the day continued we had large crowds playing two-up and enjoying the company of friends.
Fortunately the number of people who had too much to drink was limited and all reports are that an enjoyable afternoon was had by most.
The following day I drove out to Penrith with my four sons to watch the mighty Sharks take on the Panthers.
As was the case with all NRL games over the Anzac Day weekend, the ceremony prior to game honouring our servicemen and women was the highlight of the afternoon.
I wish there were more highlights during the following 80 minutes but sadly another loss.
At least this weekend, there is no chance of a loss for our NRL teams, but with any luck, we can get one back over our Anzac partners and this time, beat the Kiwis in the test on Friday evening.
Until next week.
