Batemans Bay RSL Sub Branch president Brian Wheeler presented special scrolls to families and descendents of a group of 26 fallen diggers who enlisted in Batemans Bay and are buried overseas.
"Long time coming," a clearly moved Mr Wheeler said quietly to one family member.
The Aboriginal flag was carried in the parade that left the Soldiers Club at 10.30am and was flown at the ceremony at the Honour Stone on the Batemans Bay foreshore.
Walbunja elder Muriel Slockee presented the Welcome to Country and laid a wreath for Indigenous servicemen and women. The Reverend Tom Slockee spoke and prayed in honour of the fallen, for those left behind and for peace.
An RAAF C130 Hercules flew over the assembled crowd and then onto the seven other South Coast gatherings: Moruya, Tuross Head, Dalmeny, Narooma, Bermagui, Bega and Merimbula, covering the distance in roughly 24 minutes.
Other aircraft flew twice in formation over the Honour Stone in Batemans Bay.
Guests included dignataries, school children and community representatives, who also laid wreaths.
They included Eden Monaro MP Peter Hendy, John Haslem on behalf of Bega MP Andrew Constance, Maureen Kinross on behalf of Batemans Bay CWA, and Kath McDonald on behalf of Batemans Bay Hospital Auxiliary.
