NATHAN Gregory lived out the dream of so many cricketers on Saturday.
Gregory hit a six on the final ball of the third grade grand final to guide Bundanoon to victory over Bowral at Centennial Park
The premiership was decided on the last ball of the season in a match described by Bundanoon captain Andrew Hore as "one for the archives".
"It was absolutely brilliant and we were very proud to beat Bowral," Hore said.
"For the 13 guys who represented Bundanoon, every single one of them was outstanding."
The difference between the two sides proved to be veteran Kenny Rice.
The 62-year-old picked up three wickets and finished unbeaten on 44 in the run chase.
"Kenny provided the defining moments," Hore said.
"He is the oldest person in the comp and he bowled his heart out."
Bowral batted first on Saturday and compiled 9/164 from its allotted 40 overs.
Teenager Jack Pollard top scored with 62 runs and Graham Brake (28) also spent valuable time at the crease.
Rice was the pick of Bundanoon's bowlers with 3/28.
In reply, Bundanoon lost opener Daniel Dern early, but the side recovered to win with four wickets to spare.
Wickets were shared between the Bowral bowlers, led by Blake Meyer and Matt Watson.
Bowral captain Phil Sherley was left to rue a missed opportunity for his team.
Sherley said it was a disappointing finish, but he was proud of his players.
"It felt like we were (always) a little behind and Bundanoon chased well," he said.
"We did well to make it so close in the end."
Sherley paid tribute to Pollard for an outstanding innings.
"Jack is 14 years old and he was sick this week with a stomach bug," he said.
"We have four or five other 16-year-olds who were not overawed on Saturday, so we are in good shape for next year.
"I am proud of these guys and our season, but we were beaten by a better side on the day."
