The day is finally here. After months of campaigning NSW has returned to the polls for the 2015 NSW State election. Keep an eye on this blog as the race for Wollondilly MP heats and the vote counting begins.
There are six candidates in the Wollondilly electorate.
They include (in order of ballot):
Susan PINSUTI
Of Goulburn for the Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group) www.cdp.org.au
Susan Pinsuti is a committed Christian with a diploma of early childhood education, who grew up in Goulburn and previously stood for the seat of Burrinjuck.” I was drawn to the Christian Democratic Party because they model their policies on God’s word, the Holy Bible,” she said. The party’s policies are yes to traditional marriage and gambling reform; no to coal seam gas on prime agricultural land.
Jai ROWELL
A LOCAL man will run for his second term in NSW Parliament this March.
Bowral High School alumni and Liberal MP Jai Rowell is the incumbent in the race for the seat of Wollondilly, the boundaries of which have been redrawn to include a large chunk of the Southern Highlands.
Mr Rowell has several big-ticket items leading into the election, however, his main promise is an upgrade of Bowral Hospital. More here.
Patrick DARLEY-JONES
PATRICK Darley-Jones, a candidate for the seat of Wollondilly, spent 10 years in the political wilderness before he found The Greens.
He was a member of the Liberal Party until the mid 80s when he gave it away as "it was clear it was the same old tired things of those in power dictating what people should think".
After 10 years, he called The Greens in desperation. More here.
Lynette STYLES
Politics is a plight of passion for Wollondilly candidate Lynette Styles.
Ms Styles has now run for three separate elections and worked for the Wollondilly community as a councillor between stints as a criminal and family lawyer. It's the second time she has thrown down the gauntlet for the seat of Wollondilly after an attempt in 1998. More here.
Ciaran O'BRIEN
A BOWRAL local has plans to usurp incumbent MP Jai Rowell in the Wollondilly electorate.
Thirty-two-year-old Labor candidate Ciaran O’Brien has had a long initiation to politics as he grew up in a Labor family.
His grandfather instilled in him that the best approach to governing was to look after the little guy, an approach he is taking to his first election campaign. More here.

STANDING FOR THE UPPER HOUSE
Geoffrey WILLIAMS
VOLUNTARY Euthanasia Party (VEP) candidate for the NSW Legislative Council and East Bowral resident Geoffery Williams remembers his mother telling him to knock her on the head if she ever got dementia.
Now, Mr Williams' said his mother was dying of Alzheimer's, her greatest fear.
"She's a shell of the former intelligent, vibrant woman she once was and we can't help her," he said.
"She feared dementia more than anything else and now she's suffering a fate worse than death."
It's the primary reason Mr Williams is running for the NSW Legislative Council, however, his involvement in Christians Supporting Choice for Voluntary Euthanasia was a factor in his selection by the party.
The VEP regards voluntary euthanasia as involving a request by a terminally or incurably ill person for medical assistance to end his or her life painlessly and peacefully. More here.
