Your police are committed to reducing motor vehicle collisions and more importantly, collisions which lead to serious injuries and fatalities. I have no doubt that you will see your police conducting RBT and maintaining a presence through your community. It is through these measures that the people who drive on the roads which you and your family use, are detected for driving erratically and under the influence of alcohol or a drug.
Do not become statistic. Do not let someone you know become a statistic. Don't think 'What if I said something - What if I did something'. If there is someone you know who drives under the influence, let your local police know, take steps to prevent them from driving, talk to them. If you witness erratic driving behaviour, make a call to your local police. We will do our best to find them before it is too late.
Remember, if you are the driver on a night out: What is your Plan B?
We are not far away from the Easter long weekend and soon after Easter festivities, is the 100th commemoration of Anzac Day. Both these events are extremely important but we all need to ensure that post the event, they are not remembered for the wrong things. Be careful and ensure the safety of your family and friends.
Your police will continue to patrol the streets of your community and they will do all they can to make sure they are safe.
Until next week.
