SATURDAY saw excited and nervous Chevalier College representatives head to Penrith for the Independent Sporting Association (ISA) basketball semi-finals.
Chevalier also had students and coaches involved in semi-finals for ISA cricket and the last fixtures for softball and local cricket.
Playing conditions were superb, as they have been all season.
Chevalier's players have not missed one week of matches due to the weather.
At home, Chevalier had the firsts and seconds softball girls up against Barker College.
Barker produce players who go on to play for NSW and possibly Australia, so it is always a match where Chevalier can gauge its ability.
Chev firsts girls went down 7-3 in a tight match.
Pitcher Jess Edwards was very steady and consistent.
Bridget Shirlow took the catch of the season and all of Chev's batters stepped up to the plate with no fear.
The seconds approached its game with the same attitude and although outplayed, Chev again gave its best.
Chev's firsts team, junior A and B now progress to this week's finals at Blacktown Olympic Park.
An exciting morning is in store with the firsts likely to face Barker again. Chev's junior teams could well play each other in the final.
Chev's firsts cricketers travelled to the picturesque Sydney Uni to play St Andrews (SACS), with a final spot up for grabs.
Each match against SACS this season has ebbed and flowed.
Chev fielded first, collected some early wickets, became a bit ragged in the middle session and then finished superbly to knock SACS over for 146.
Sam Osborne chimed in with three wickets. In reply, Chev's batsmen all seemed to get a start, but partnerships failed to eventuate.
Chev's season came to a conclusion with a 13-run loss.
In the basketball, every Chev team qualified for the semi-finals.
In huge day at Penrith Stadium, 10 of the 14 Chev teams in action recorded wins to progress to this week's finals.
In the girls games, all matches were close. Four of Chev's teams were winners.
Chev's firsts girls were even with Central Coast until the last quarter, when Central Coast's shooters banged home a few three-pointers.
Drew McGladdery and Leeah Carroll played a full final quarter in their last match for Chev.
For the boys, the story was similar with some disappointments (particularly the 14Bs), but it was mainly positive with six out of nine Chev teams winning.
Chev's firsts boys excelled against Central Coast.
Marco Laus and Jack Braddock were Chev's best.
This team has been together as a unit now for two years and will hope for another great team effort next week.
