THE 23rd BOWRAL Parkrun event was held on Saturday at The Briars on the last day of summer.
On a wet and soggy track but under perfect conditions, 75 parkrunners set off for their weekly 5km run/walk.
With parkrun tourists from Brisbane and Sydney, and 17 first-timers, there were some very quick times recorded.
First across the line, for the sixth time, was David Watson in 19 minutes and nine seconds.
Watson was closely followed by Mark Wood (19 minutes, 45 seconds).
In third place, and first female across the line, was Isabeau Williams in 20 minutes and 28 seconds.
Alyson Williams (22 minutes and 41 seconds) was the second female to finish and Jade Gillis secured third place in 25 minutes and 11 seconds.
Some of the best performances were from Bowral's junior parkrunners, who are getting faster every week and will no doubt impress at the upcoming school cross country events.
Many juniors have been running faster times each week.
One of the most impressive times has been by George Myers, who is in the under-10 age category.
George has completed parkrun four times and has now set a personal best time every week, knocking one to two minutes off his time each week.
He has moved his time over 5km from 30 minutes down to 24 minutes and 48 seconds, which is a very fast time for a junior runner.
The group's annual men's pointscore shows David Watson (2057 points) well ahead of Mark Wood (1735) and Max Powditch (1466).
The women's pointscore is a bit closer with Sharon Grice (1665) just ahead of Norma Wallett (1532) and Josine Irving (1517).
Bowral Parkrun is held at The Briars every Saturday morning at 8am.
It is a free, timed event, run by volunteers and open to all, no matter how fast or slow you are.
Participants are welcome to run or walk at their own speed - the timing is so they can measure themselves against their own previous times.
