A SUPERB century by teenager Charlie Dummer led East Bowral's first grade side to its best day on the field this season.
East Bowral was strong with the bat and bowled well to finish in a dominant position at stumps on Saturday in its two-day clash with the Wingello Tigers.
Wingello captain Grant Pike won the toss and elected to field at Bradman Oval.
East Bowral lost a couple of early wickets, before Dummer and Jamie Stevenson guided their side to a solid position.
Fifteen-year-old Dummer was the star, scoring 110 runs, and he shared a 115-run stand with Stevenson (39).
Young guns Josh Heyhorn and Tom Ewan (both 20) also spent valuable time at the crease as East Bowral finished on 243 runs.
East Bowral's acting captain Brian Martin said Dummer was in excellent form on Saturday.
"It was a very mature innings, it was great," he said.
"Everyone chipped in on the scoreboard."
Left-arm quick Steve Bell was the pick of Wingello's attack with 4/30 and Michael Pike collected a couple of wickets.
In reply, Wingello's top order stumbled its way to 2/41 when stumps were drawn.
Allrounder Arron Deegan fell cheaply and Bob Lewis was bowled with just four balls remaining in the day.
Shannon Pike and Simon Branden remained not out at stumps, while Aaron Jordan picked up both wickets for East Bowral.
Martin said it was a superb performance by his side.
"It's great - we have a lot of kids plus us older guys," he said.
"Hopefully we will hold on for our first victory (of the season).
"We're in with a show."
Meanwhile, Wingello was left to lament a missed opportunity.
Wingello requires an outright victory to guarantee its spot in the first grade finals, which begin on March 14.
Captain Grant Pike said his side would aim to secure a win when play resumed this Saturday.
"I think an outright win is off the table now, so we will look to win on first innings," he said.
