At a time when our children are back at school, work is back to full steam ahead and our summer holidays seem like a distant memory, we all need to take responsibility for our actions.
There are many construction zones across our command.
Changed traffic conditions, not only for the cars that drive along our roads, but also for those of us that use the oldest form of transport: walking.
There have been incidents across the command where our pedestrians have just avoided being hit by a car and unfortunately there have also been occasions when members of our local community have been seriously injured as a result of collisions with vehicles.
Driver safety and safe driving practices are continually spoken about.
What is less common is common sense by our pedestrians.
Please use pedestrian crossings, walk when the traffic signals indicate you should, ensure your children are supervised or well educated in road crossing and don't take unnecessary risks.
Your police continue to conduct operations to reduce our road toll and indentify drivers who break the law.
It is important that each of us take the appropriate steps to look after ourselves and our loved ones when crossing the road.
A simple message so often not heeded.
Keep safe.
Until next week...
