In fact, the Bundanoon community has always excelled with its many festivals and celebrations - there is Brigadoon, Winterfest, the Garden Ramble, the Highland Fling and a relative newcomer the Grow Eat Cook Festival which all quickly spring to mind.
Each and every one of these events attracts thousands of people to the small southern village. Brigadoon alone regularly attracts up to 15,000 people to the town and has a loyal following from around the world.
These are impressive achievements indeed, but what is even more impressive is this community has a population of only about 2500 people. In all fairness it is a village with a lot of natural appeal established on the edge of Morton National Park and a conducive climate that helps set the scene for the perfect atmosphere for events such as Brigadoon and Winterfest.
However, it is clearly the many enthusiastic people within this village, involved in various committees and clubs, that are driving the efforts to showcase Bundanoon in all its glory.
This year they have even more reason to celebrate the town as Bundanoon reaches its 150th anniversary.
And in a style that is typical of the people of Bundanoon they have gone all out to commemorate the occasion with a year-long calendar of attractions, including many of the regular events, a few new activities including a re-enactment of the Kangaroo March and even the revival of some popular activities from years-gone-by such as old-style fetes.
With this in mind, it may be well worth scheduling a few trips to Bundanoon in 2015 because there will be plenty to see and do.
Well done to the people of Bundanoon who are the driving force behind this wonderfully engaged and enthusiastic southern village that has so much to offer.
