As part of the scheme, council distributes much needed funds to local not-for-profit organisations right across the shire.
This year $120,000 was allocated towards the scheme with an additional $10,000 being provided by the Environment Levy for environment and sustainable specific programs.
Under the scheme monies can be sought to fund programs, equipment or capital works which aim to establish, improve or enhance cultural, sporting, welfare, health promotion, community development or leisure services.
Last year a total of 53 projects across the shire received funding. Just some of the projects that received monies included upgrading community buildings, purchasing musical instruments, funding new clubhouse furniture and financing a dedicated camp for parents and children with autism.
This year three types of funding are available. Donations up to $500, environmental grants up to $2000 and general grants up to $7000. New for this year is the requirement that all applications for donations and grants be submitted online.
Anyone wishing to view the guidelines or submit an electronic application can do so by visiting council's website at www.wsc.nsw. gov.au/wingecarribee-community-assistance-scheme.
But hurry, applications for this year's Wingecarribee Community Assistance Scheme close on Friday, March 31.
Anyone requiring further information or help in filling out an online application is encouraged to contact council's community development co-ordinator on 4868 0866.
