Police attached to the Hume LAC have launched the campaign to encourage the public to dob in a drug dealer by calling Crime Stoppers or their local police.
The operation which is being run locally today, Wednesday, February 18, is part of a police crackdown on drug supply and the community will have the opportunity to speak to a police officer between 7am and 7pm .
Hume LAC crime manager, Detective Inspector Chad Gillies said it was important to speak up if you knew something about drug supply in your local area.
"This day has been formed to make it a priority for those in the community who know something, to say something," he said.
Det. Insp. Gillies said drugs had a devastating effect on the community and its people and were predominantly linked to serious and violent crimes in the area.
"Locally, we have seen an increase in violent behavior and crimes linked to the use and supply of 'ice'," he said.
