Many club members and other fishermen ventured out wide for a taste of big fish action, with the marlin season in full swing.
From Sydney to Bermagui, there were many marlin hooked.
Lots of anglers battled with striped and black marlin.
For those who didn't get the taste of big fish action, the big numbers of dolphin fish about provided a great consolation.
Some specimens caught were recorded as weighing up to 24.2kg.
Robbo Reeler Matt Noferi fished off Kiama Canyons to land a few nice 8-10kg dolphin fish for the barbecue while trolling lures.
He later had a good battle with a nice mako shark, estimated at 100kg, before releasing it.
St Georges Basin has been going well for big flathead up to 88cm.
Bream, whiting and still the odd monster tailor have been around, snipping fishos lines off in a flash.
Lake Illawarra produced good sized flathead in the channel, with some fish up to 53cm.
Joe Sotto and crew got among the action, releasing several fish over 50cm and taking home half a dozen for a feed between the 40-48 cm mark.
On the inshore reefs, there were some nice kingfish up to 10kg off Jervis Bay.
There were plenty of pan sized snapper around the 1.5kg mark, along with morwong and leather jackets.
Out wide on the game fishing scene, the marlin run continues.
Striped marlin and black marlin have been about in good numbers, with most fish hooked while trolling eight inch lures.
Peter Childs fished with his wife Sandy on their boat Khe Sahn in the Botany Bay Game Fishing Club Tournament on the weekend.
They were happy to release the first marlin for the season for Wollongong Gaming Fishing Club.
The marling was estimated at weighing about 55kg and was caught on a 15kg line.
Team Profishent skipper Sondal Bensan, Jamie Bezzina and Mick Grogan trolled lures and live bait for a big weekend.
They hooked seven marlin and managed to release a nice black marlin, estimated to weight 70kg.
Bensan, Bezzina and Grogan also landed a nice 11.8kg dolphin fish for the barbecue.
Team Carnage's anglers captured a nice tiger shark after a two-hour battle.
The shark weighed 331.kg and was caught on a 15kg line.
