A YOUNG girl has died following a car crash in the Southern Highlands.

At 10.40am today, Wednesday, January 28, police and emergency services were called to Wilson Drive, Balmoral Village, after a Holden Commodore left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
A four-year-old girl travelling in the car was seriously injured. She was transported to Liverpool Hospital, however was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A 22-month-old boy, who was also travelling in the car, sustained a number of injuries and he too was transported to Liverpool Hospital where he is currently being treated.
The children’s mother, aged in her mid 30s, was driving the vehicle. She suffered only minor injuries but is being treated for shock.
Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
