Julie said she always wanted to renew their vows at this milestone of their marriage and Dalmeny was where she wanted to have the special day.
They were married in Normanhurst in 1995, but she grew up holidaying in Dalmeny and her parents Tony and Marlene Hunt now live here permanently.
Julie and Mick and their sons while living in Gosford now have their own holiday house overlooking the ocean.
Wednesday turned out to be quite the day with lightning and thunder in the morning and so the celebrations had to move indoors, but they were able to do the vows outdoors at a dawn service getting some atmospheric photos on the lookout near their house.
“It turned out to be quite the dramatic backdrop,” she said.
And it’s been a very hectic year for Julie and Mick, with a new cooking school business and another cookbook, 2020 Meals.
“It’s about how to feed your family with $20 and in 20 minutes,” she said.
“I’m getting a lot feedback that people are really enjoying it and cooking from it.”
But big new challenge is “Julie’s Place”, a purpose built cookery school in North Gosford housed in a new purpose-built building that has Mick’s IT business upstairs.
Julie said it was great to have their two businesses together but that it had been hectic since classes started in July.
It’s not just Julie teaching, but she said she had a range of presenters offering different techniques and coming from different backgrounds.
“It’s a big space and it’s all about hands-on cooking and afterwards we all sit down and eat a meal of what we’ve cooked,” she said.
With all this going on, the Goodwins found their January holiday in Dalmeny particularly relaxing even though they had to dash back a couple of times.
“It’s a real battery recharge to be back and to be able to read a book and spend time on the beach. It’s beautiful down here,” she said.
