A new weight loss program offered at Priceline Mittagong has already been a great solution for several people from the Highlands and beyond.
The Impromy health and weight management program was developed and clinically tested by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia's national science agency and one of the most diverse research agencies in the world.
According to the CSIRO, the Impromy program focuses on improving health through weight loss and good nutrition.
While the Impromy program requires monitoring by a health care professional, the team at Priceline Mittagong made the decision to pair up each member of the program with a trained pharmacist to provide specialist knowledge throughout the program.
Priceline pharmacist and Impromy consultant Ruth Nona said this was one of the great advantages of the program at Priceline Mittagong.
"By working with a pharmacist, a person's lifestyle and health can be properly monitored," Ms Nona said.
"Pharmacy trained professionals may be able to detect things that other people may not be able to, for example sleep apnoea."
The Impromy program is a meal replacement method, but unlike other shake programs, it features a high protein, low carb blend and encourages participants to get off the shakes as soon as possible, moving toward making healthy food choices.
"It's the first weight loss program where I've seen such great results, people are sticking to it because it's simple and easy and there are a lot of advantages,"?Ms Nona said.
Those who sign up to the program will have their blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar checked at the beginning and throughout the program, as these levels change as weight is lost.
"Participants have not only lost weight but have seen their blood pressure decrease and say they feel better, healthier and are more active," she said.
The program has run at Priceline Mittagong, with the pilot program seeing participants travel from Canberra to experience the Impromy advantages.
"It's not just a 'diet' to me," Ms Nona said.
"It's a whole lifestyle change.
"We get to create a relationship with a client, and they're not just receiving weight loss advice but health care too.
"We want our clients to feel comfortable and supported."
Ms Nona said the program was quite affordable.
"The cost of the Impromy program is about half the cost of programs like Lite n' Easy."
"When they join, participants receive a special edition CSIRO cookbook, an Impromy app for their phone or tablet and a health check and introduction to their personal health care assistant.
"The great thing is that everything is personalised for each individual and their circumstances."
Priceline Mittagong will run a special offer on the Impromy shakes until this Saturday, January 31 - buy two weeks worth of shakes and the second week is half price.
