At about 5pm on January 24, a 62-year-old man was driving south along the Hume Highway in a Toyota Rav 4. Bowral Police Inspector John Klepczarek said the man wanted to make a right-hand turn at Eling Forest when he hit a Hyundai Accent driven by a 58-year-old Canberra man .
"As a result of the impact, the Rav 4 flipped onto its side and the Accent ended up with major damage," he said.
"The passenger of the Accent, a 53-year-old Canberra woman, sustained broken ribs and abdominal injuries." NSW Ambulance airlifted the woman to Liverpool hospital in a serious but stable condition. Both drivers sustained minor injuries but did not require treatment.
