On Monday, he became a recipient of a special Australia Day honour.
Mr Hall was named the Wingecarribee Shire's Citizen of the Year after being recognised for his ongoing volunteer work in Berrima.
Mr Hall has spent many years as the Berrima District Historical and Family History Society's (BDHS) project manager.
His achievements have included helping to build an exhibition hall, which is attached to the society's museum. Mr Hall is a dedicated member of the BDHS and is also on the Arts and Culture Committee of Wingecarribee Shire. Mr Hall said he was surprised to receive an Australia Day honour.
He said the BDHS had more than 100 volunteers who deserved to be recognised.
"We have donors, sponsors and volunteer workers who primarily are people who give to the community - they are inspired."
Monday was particularly special for Mr Hall, who moved to Australia from Hartford in Connecticut, US, 45 years ago.
He became an Australian citizen 25 years ago, and made the move to the Highlands with his wife Lyn in 1999. Mr Hall said he had received great support from his wife Lyn, who also volunteers at the BDHS museum.
"Lyn has probably contributed more to the museum than I have," he said.
