Held at Bong Bong Racecourse, the event included horse shows, a newly expanded pavilion section, the pet show, dog jumping and more.
Show-goers came from near and as far as Scone and Canberra to participate in the 87th annual show. Pavilion steward Katherine Wood said there had been a large increase in submissions across all areas for this year's show.
"We have so many pieces to exhibit, and the attention to detail in all of the submissions is amazing," she said.
The committee of Bowral Show had been working throughout 2014 to ensure that all practical and administrative details would be spot on for the running of a worthwhile, satisfying show for competitors and visitors alike.
The Southern Highlands Yarn Spinners Group was a special attraction in the pavilion this year as members demonstrated their craft and offered items for sale, including miniature hand spun handbags that could be used to keep teeth for the tooth fairy.
Local Wingello family, the Bruggemans, exhibited 29 pieces between them.
Among the family's 17 first and second place wins, mother Lana won first prize for her cross stitch depicting a lovely country scene of a horse and cows.
"The kids like making things and it gives them a purpose, something to work toward," she said. Lana and her husband David along with their children Ariel, Clare, Rose and Eric each submitted pieces across the needlework, weaving, handicraft and photography sections of the 2015 pavilion.
The show continued at Bong Bong Racecourse on Sunday with more horse events and the pet events, including the pet show and dog jumping.
More than a dozen four-legged friends and their owners gathered to see who had the biggest and smallest tail, ears, body, who was the furriest, who was the cuddliest, sleepiest and more.
While the dogs were the main contenders, it was the guinea pigs, Mimi and Spike, owned by Moss Vale's Abi and Eddie Hunt that stole the show, with seven ribbons between them.
Bowral Show Society secretary Edwina Grant said there had been a good number of people attend the event on the weekend.
Ms Grant was unable to provide official figures, but said there had been a "fair sized crowd".
She said the horse and pavilion events had attracted entries from across NSW.
"We've had good entries for an event so close to Christmas... the quality has been up this year," Ms Grant said.
"It's been two really good days."
