Every three years childcare centres and community preschools go through government accreditation where all practices are reviewed.
Southern Highlands Early Childcare Centre has met more than 50 elements of national quality standards to be rated as exceeding the national quality standard in all areas.
Owner Anna Atherton said it was a pat on the back for all the hard work she had put in with her husband Jeff since December 2013, when they bought the centre.
"It was a good centre before we bought it, but we've raised the standard," she said.
"There are seven areas that we were ranked on, so we've raised the standard in all seven areas.
"According to the government, Educational Program and Practice is the hardest area to achieve a high rating in.
"This demonstrates the strength of our pre-school program."
Mrs Atherton said early childhood teacher Carolyn Rolley had developed a holistic learning program that met the needs of each child's learning abilities in order to prepare them for school.
"We believe that each child is gifted with individual strengths and talents," she said.
"It's about exposing the children to opportunities and building on areas they excel in."
Moving forward, Mrs Atherton said their goal was to continue improving the love and care they gave to children.
"We're looking at expanding our programs," she said.
"Our focus is art and music.
"We have a doctor of music education come in and she builds literacy and general education into music."
"We have a practising fine artist who will come in and work with the kids twice a year," Mrs Atherton said.
Mrs Atherton said the centre was a home away from home for the children they cared for.
"We're a small centre so we really get to know the children and their families, which is the best aspect."
