BOWRAL'S Billy McGuinness hit three half centuries in two days last weekend.
It's an effort that would have made Aussie opener Dave Warner proud, but it's even more impressive for a 13-year-old.
McGuinness hit 56 for the under-14 Bowral Clarkes on Saturday morning, 55 for Bowral's first grade afternoon and 51no for the Highlands U/14 representative team on Sunday.
It is believed that McGuinness became the club's youngest half-century maker in first grade history.
McGuinness, who is also a wicketkeeper, was promoted to the top grade at the start of this season.
He said he was pleased to hit 55 against the Wingello Tigers.
"It was a good knock," he said.
"It's the second week in a row that I've top scored, after making 38 against Robertson."
McGuinness admitted that he copped some sledging from the Tigers.
"They sledged about my edge, the size of my bat, the size of me - but I didn't bite back," he said.
"But I get most of the name sledging from my own teammates."
The talented middle order batsman said he hoped to continue to accumulate plenty of runs in first grade.
"I'd like to knock up another 50 and it would be like a dream to get a century," he said.
McGuinness's interest in the sport began at a young age and he joined the Milo Cricket program at four.
He now trains four days a week before playing on Saturday and Sunday.
The teenager said he modeled his batting style on three icons of Australian Test cricket.
"I love Ricky Ponting, I admire him as a player and person.
"The other two are Michael Clarke and Michael Hussey.
"I would love to be able to play for Australia, that would be my life ambition."
