The 17-year-old took home the prestigious rider of the year award at the Southern Highlands Cycling Club's (SHCC) presentation night.
In recent years, the award has been dominated by young Bowral cycling champion Caleb Ewan.
Smith, of Bundanoon, has enjoyed an impressive year in the sport.
In February, he represented Australia at the Cyclo Cross World Championships in Belgium.
Smith finished 50th overall in his race.
The Highlands teenager then gained selection in the Australian men's Cyclocross team in August.
SHCC president Zac Hulm said Smith was a worthy winner.
"He's a good young rider," he said.Close to 70 people attended the SHCC awards presentation at the Scottish Arms Hotel.
The other major winner on the night was Peter Tomlinson, who collected the president's award.
