ROUNDS of the over-60s singles were played at Bowral Bowling Club on Saturday.
The match of the day saw Robin Staples defeat Dennis Beatty 31-30.
The conditions were not easy for both players owing to the extremely hot weather.
It took 40 ends to decide a winner.
It was a typical showdown between the top bowlers, with Staples emerging victorious.
The scores were kept very close until Staples scored two shots on the last end to win.
In other results, Noel Fraser defeated Ken Looke 31-15 and John Edmonds beat Kel Lidbrick 31-2.
On Sunday, the quarter-finals of the mixed pairs were played in hot conditions at Bowral.
The final results were:
Necina Lewis and Mick Spong defeated Fran Post and Ashley Lewis 29-20
Pam Woods and Robin Staples defeated Joy Woody and Brian Porter 25-19
Jeanette Allen and Kevin Stafford defeated Allison Pryce and Laurie Hodder 24-8
The Crowe-Brenning Day will be held on December 7 at Bowral Bowling Club at 10am.
The club champions of Bowral will play Robertson's club champions.
Bowral will compete in the Southern Highlands Cup and Eric Plain Trophy.
Bundanoon will host Robertson in round one this Saturday.
Bundanoon players will travel to Bowral on Sunday.
In round three, Bowral bowlers will travel to Robertson on December 6.
In the final round, all teams will play at Bundanoon on December 13.
All rounds of the Southern Highlands Cup will start at 1pm.
Bowral selectors have chosen the following sides to play Bundanoon at Bowral this Sunday at 1pm.
Stephen Della and Russell Knight will play in the pairs.
Mick Spong, Russell Fahey and Kevin Stafford will play in the triples.
Stuart Riggs, Greg Lewis, Gordon Lewis and Robin Staples will play in the fours.
