Arriving in Narooma on Thursday night, 35 motoring enthusiasts arrived from as far as Queensland and South Australia with their Classic clubman cars to have fun and share knowledge.
The replicas of the Lotus Super 7 1950’s car certainly brighten up the town with their various colours and jovial owners.
The visiting group, who are part of the ‘OZClubbies Forum’ an online club dedicated to owners, builders and enthusiasts of Lotus 7 sports cars will enjoy the opportunity to inspect and discuss other model cars.
Michael Gardner and Rochelle Boyer, owners of The Farnboro Motel in Narooma organised the meet.
“It was a lot of organising- I had been getting it together for 12 months” laughs Rochelle, “but it was worth it… It’s all about supporting each other and our local businesses.”
Stemming from their passion for Clubman cars, the couple’s dedication to the event shone through with the Narooma YHA, The Tree Motel and The Farnboro booked out and needless to say packed with classic style cars.
The weekend event will attract about 60 people and outings are planned to The Inlet restaurant, Little Joe’s Pizzas and Lynch’s Hotel, culminating in a wonderful barbeque on Sunday morning at Rotary Park in recognition of the Marine Rescue.
All proceeds from the event, including donations from the motorists, are going to be put forward to helping the Marine Rescue continue their work.
The spectacular gathering of hobbyist cars is truly a unique sight for Narooma.
