Highly experienced artist and curator Suzie Edwards will open her exhibition, Inner Necessity, today (Saturday, November 15) from 2pm.
The show will be opened by renowned local artist and Archibald winner Cherry Hood.
The exhibition deals with perceptions of what makes an image, a story, and what sparks a viewer to engage with a work.
Suzie has found from years of working with a diverse range of artists and mediums that people’s perception of what is and what isn’t “art” is a fascinating subject.
“The seemingly non-relationship between images intrigues me,” she said.
“At times there appears to be a relationship where logically there should not be one.
“Subject and time wise there is no link and there is no narrative and yet there is something that appeals to us. Why is this?”
Suzie previously headed up the Tuggeranong Arts Centre in Canberra for 13 years and retired from that position in 2011 to pursue her own creative career.
The exhibition will run for two weeks at the new and exciting Ten Thousand Paces, a commercial hub for local artists, makers and cool crafters.
Check out the exhibition at Ten Thousand Paces, Shop 10 Springetts Arcade, 302 Bong Bong Street, Bowral.
