Hank Spirek has been an artist for 45 years, but for the first time he will exhibit with his daughter Amelie and son-in-law Ben.
"I've been an artist off and on, but I recently retired from work and I wanted to do full time art and help my kids at the same time. Hank is an expressionist figurative artist who uses whatever tool is at hand, be it paint or the computer manipulations of photographed work.
In broad terms his work delves into the philosophical conflict between disorder and order. His work will be on display next to Ben's photographs and Amelie's clothing designs.
"My son-in-law has more than 15 years' experience and has photographed Queens, Popes and dignitaries when called upon by the NSW Government," Hank said.
His subjects have included William and Kate, Prince Edward, the King and Queen of Sweden and Pope Benedict as part of World Youth Day.
Amelie works as an assistant manager at Cue Fashion House and, using this experience, will branch out in 2015 to form her own company Waisted Clothing.
"I am really pleased to have this opportunity to exhibit with Amelie and Ben," Hank said.
A Family Affair will open on Monday, November 3 at the TAP Gallery in Darlinghurst with a meet the artists night on Saturday, November 8 from 4-7pm. The exhibition runs until November 23.
