The Robertson Open Garden weekend was organised by the Robertson Garden Club committee and ran over October 11 and 12 with tourists and Highlanders alike flocking to the town.
The two-day event raised $10,500 for the Rural Fire Service, Robertson Show Society, Ladies Auxiliary and Robertson CTC.
Cheques were handed out at a presentation ceremony at the Robertson CTC on October 23.
Open garden co-ordinator Joy Rees thanked everyone who was involved, including the sponsors and the people who opened their gardens.
The Rural Fire Service will use its donation to set up a new section of their fire shed for training and the Robertson Show Society will use its to resurrect the cattle shed, which president Leesa Stratford said was a getting a bit wobbly.
“Thank you to all the garden owners,” she said.
“We’re humbled to get this money.
“There’s a lot up at the showground that’s a bit wobbly after 130 years.”
Jenny Kena from the CTC said the Robertson Open Gardens were a wonderful community event.
“We really enjoy seeing the CTC used for this purpose and are delighted to be involved.”
Plans are already underway for the 2015 event and Ms Rees said she hoped to have a few new gardens involved.
