Baby's Day Out is part of an Australia-wide move to encourage and empower women to feel comfortable and confident getting out with their babies, children, friends and families to enjoy time together in their local communities.
The Southern Highlands Group of the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) will celebrate Baby's Day Out with a family-friendly picnic in the park at Lake Alexandra Reserve, Mittagong on Saturday from 12pm.
Southern Highlands group leader, Kim Hol said this was a great community event and everyone was invited to come along.
"Gone are the days when a baby is to be hidden away while feeding," Ms Hol said.
"Babies are an important part of our community and should be celebrated everyday.
"ABA is dedicated to seeing a greater acceptance and encouragement of breastfeeding, whenever and wherever it takes place.
"Community perceptions can be influenced by positive images and real life examples."
A breastfeeding counsellor will be on hand during the day and will provide take-home information about breastfeeding.
Baby's Day Out aims to celebrate babies and their place in our world and their right to be fed wherever they are.
