THIS week seems to be one in which we have had several opportunities to celebrate the members of our community with special needs and those who care for them.

The SING performance at Clubbe Hall, Mittagong, Wednesday night, three young ten pin bowlers competing in the Special Olympics National Games over two days this week and the DreamCricket to be held at Bradman Oval today are all events that celebrate the abilities of those with disabilities and special needs.
The SING event presented performances from 11 local choirs. Each of those choirs included at least one young performer with a disability or special need.
The involvement of three young ten pin bowlers who have competed this week in Special Olympics National Games speaks for itself.
Very few people can boast of competing at a national level. What a fantastic achievement for these young athletes.
And of course today we have the fifth annual DreamCricket at Bradman Oval which will involve more than 150 children with disabilities from the Highlands and surrounding areas all keen to join in a day of great fun and the opportunity to showcase their abilities on the cricket pitch.
This is always a fantastic day for these young people and everyone else who has contributed.
If previous DreamCricket events are any indication then the smiles on the faces of all involved tell the story.
Here's hoping that the weather is fine for DreamCricket in 2014 and that everyone has a fabulous day.
Well done also to the organisers of all events and those who have offered training and support so that young people with disabilities in the Highlands can shine.
