SOUTHERN Branch Football Club's trials for its 2015 Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) continue on Thursday, October 23.
SAP trials are being held for under 9s to under 11s boys and girls from the Goulburn and Southern Highlands football association areas.
All trials will begin at 5.30pm on Thursday at Ferndale Oval, Bundanoon.
The SAP program was developed by Football NSW,.
It provides a structured, best practice learning environment consistent with the Football Federation of Australia's national curriculum to support the development of aspiring young footballers.
Southern Branch's coaching and development manager Matthew Shepherd said SAP enabled players to learn the skills of the game while being exposed to the best level of competition from across NSW.
Shepherd said the program focused around the four technical football skills - one versus one, striking the ball, running with the ball and first touch, as well as functional game skills.
"It provides girls and boys with an opportunity to experience an enhanced football environment above that provided by their local football clubs," he said.
"Developing our young players to play, enjoy and learn in the right environment has always been the focus for SAP."
Next year will be the first year that SAP will run in both the Highlands and Shoalhaven locations.
This will provide greater access to SAP for players in the Highlands and Southern Tablelands areas.
The Highlands based SAP will be coached by Richard Paddle and Craig Ash.
"We are really lucky to have two coaches of Richard and Craig's experience," Shepherd said.
Southern Branch has been participating in SAP with 29 other associations and branches from across NSW.
Players train two to three days a week with experienced and qualified coaches and play 18 games over a 40-week period.
