The star all-rounder had to call for replacement equipment during his unbeaten 110 against Robertson-Burrawang at Bradman Oval.
McNaught's knock included seven sixes as Hill Top snuck home by one wicket in round two of the Highlands District Cricket Association first grade competition.
In a thrilling contest, Robertson went within an inch of securing a well-earned victory.
Chasing 200 for victory, Hill Top was cruising to victory before it lost three quick wickets to slip to 9/173.
Mitch Wright, who was Robertson's standout performer, took two wickets in successive deliveries to make victory a possibility for his side.
Wright's hat-trick ball just missed the stumps and Hill Top's number 11 batsman Dave Malchom survived.
Malchom only scored four, but was able to provide support for McNaught in a last-wicket stand of 27 runs.
Fittingly, McNaught secured victory with a six.
Mitch Wright led Robertson's bowling attack with 4/19, while his brother Nathan took 5/59.
Earlier in the day, Mitch top-scored with 78 while brothers Ben (30) and Nathan (27) were next best as Robertson was bowled out for 199.
Murray Burgoyne was the pick of the Hill Top bowlers with 3/40 while Dean Webb and Alex Debs took two wickets apiece.
Hill Top captain Simon Reid credited McNaught for an excellent innings.
"Steve batted awesome, he showed his class," he said.
Reid said Hill Top's side was gelling together well, but would need to keep improving.
He said he was pleased to beat a strong Robertson side.
"It was a really good contest."
Robertson captain Nathan Wright was left to lament a missed opportunity for his team.
Wright said he was disappointed to lose, but there were promising signs for his team.
Wright praised McNaught for his performance.
"Steve batted really well, really smartly," he said.
"We were definitely competitive, but we lost wickets in clumps and only batted for 35 overs."
The result means Hill?Top has started the season in ideal fashion with two successive wins.
Robertson-Burrawang has one win from two starts, following its six-wicket victory over East Bowral last week.
First grade cricket will take a break this weekend for the annual Burns Cup representative competition.
The Burns Cup games will be held in Bowral and Moss Vale on Saturday and Sunday.
The first grade competition will resume on November 1.
