Two months ago, Anytime Fitness personal trainer (PT) Henry Yuill was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
Club manager Kylie Whatman and Mr Yuill's clients rallied around him from word go and the idea of a fundraiser was discussed early on.
"There's a few other diabetics here in the gym and we got the idea for our diabetes challenge from another Anytime Fitness," Mr Yuill said.
On Friday, November 7 the gym will run 30 minute PT sessions for $20 with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the Australian Diabetes Council.
Four trainers, who have donated their time, will be on hand from 7am to 7pm to cover all schedules.
The event isn't limited to Anytime Fitness members and anyone can participate.
"We're trying to advocate exercise in conjunction with raising money, so it's a win-win for everyone involved," Henry said.
"Type 1 diabetics don't have control over whether or not they'll get it, whereas Type 2 Diabetes is typically lifestyle induced.
"Type 1 is called juvenile diabetes because it's typical to get it at a young age.
"It's where the auto immune system attacks the pancreas which, over time, will mean I'll become dependant on insulin, the hormone produced by a healthy pancreas."
In the last two months, Mr Yuill said he had become more aware of what was required to conquer diabetes.
"It's become a bigger thing for me personally," he said.
"It's definitely achievable to cure it, or at least manage the disease, and bringing that goal date closer is satisfying.
"If communities chip in together it could bring that date forward a year."
To register for a PT session phone Anytime Fitness Bowral on 48621874 or Henry Yuill on 0423 676 970.
"If you can't participate on the day, call us and we'll let you know how you can still be involved," Ms Whatman said.
