Now in its seventh year, the World Sight Day Challenge is the largest annual global fundraising campaign to address avoidable blindness caused by uncorrected refractive error - simply the need for an eye exam and glasses.
The campaign goal is to raise $1 million globally in 2014.
Tomorrow, Eyecare Plus Moss Vale will donate $500 to help the more than 600 million people in the world who are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to an eye exam or glasses.
The campaign is run by global charity, Optometry Giving Sight. Eyecare Plus Moss Vale will also hold a morning tea on Wednesday, October 15 to raise more money for the cause. The practice invites the public to join them for biscuits, cakes and scones to help raise money to give sight to those in need.
Ms Foster said Eyecare Plus Moss Vale had supported World Sight Day since its inception.
"Preventable blindness is a solvable problem and we are proud to help give sight to those in need. We are thrilled to be contributing towards this year's $1 million goal, which will change a huge number of lives," she said.
"Just $5 can be enough to help provide an eye exam and a pair of glasses to someone living in an under-served community. Every contribution is meaningful."
Participating is easy - the public can simply make a single donation or join Eyecare Plus Moss Vale for morning tea on Wednesday, October 15.
