National Tree Day is this Saturday, October 11 and council will give residents the opportunity to do their bit for the environment at its National Tree Day community planting.
From 8.30am to 12.30pm, residents can get their hands dirty and help the planet.
Council's natural resource officer Paul Marshall said the event was a fantastic way for community volunteers to make a positive contribution to the local environment and their own health.
"National Tree Day is a call-to-action for all Australians to 'get outside and Ggrow' for their own health, and for that of our local environment," he said.
"Last year more than 50 volunteers planted hundreds of native trees, shrubs and groundcovers along another section of Whites Creek."
On the day, volunteers should wear appropriate clothing including a hat, covered shoes, a long sleeved shirt and long pants.
Tasks will involve planting, tree guarding, watering, guiding and training volunteers in planting techniques and general assistance. Gloves, tools, equipment for planting, watering cans, buckets, drinking water, refreshments and a barbecue will be provided on the day.
