MITTAGONG B booked a place in the men’s reserve grade grand final after a 1-0 win against Moss Vale R on Saturday, September 13.
There was not much between the two teams with the only difference a header by Russell James off a corner.
Moss Vale started the season strongly but struggled towards the end of the competition.
Mittagong had previously beaten Moss Vale in the competition and team manager Tony White said it was another good win from his team.
“It was a pretty dogged fight," he said.
"They’re a great bunch of fellas and they don’t get to train but they try hard when they get out on the pitch.
“We liked to keep the ball on the ground and Moss Vale played quite a high line and made it difficult for us. "The guys were a bit frustrated at half time that we couldn’t play our game.”
Both teams had chances to win the match and White said it could have gone either way.
“Moss Vale had a couple of chances late in the game. Both keepers had good games.”
White said referee Andrew Bell had a good game.
“It would have tested anybody, it was a really tough game.”
Mittagong will now take on minor premiers Yerrinbool G in the grand final this weekend.
Yerrinbool defeated Mittagong earlier in the season before Mittagong beat the Bushrangers in the Liberale Trophy semi-final.
“It could go either way," White said.
"They’re a good side but if they let us play we’re good too.”
