BUNDANOON just needed at least a draw to claim the youth league minor premiership on Saturday.
In one of just four matches played at Hampden Park, Bundanoon came up against its old rival Moss Vale.
The match finished in a 2-2 draw and Bundanoon took out the 2014 minor premiership.
Scott Woods found the back of the net for Bundanoon in the first half before Moss Vale leveled the score.
Tim Cubitt then scored again for Bundanoon to retake the lead in the second half before Moss Vale scored its second goal just 10 minutes before the match ended.
Bundanoon coach Dennis Day said it was a pretty exciting last 10 minutes.
"The conditions were pretty ordinary but it was a really good battle and both teams played pretty hard," he said.
Day commended his team on another good effort against a side with a few over-35 players.
Bundanoon's youth league team consists of players all under the age of 18.
"The boys played really well and Moss Vale are a really good team," Day said.
"We played pretty well as far as our passing game goes for two thirds of the match but it just turned into a battle of attriton."
Day said Josh Day played well as did Jayden Cubitt in what was a great team performance overall.
The draw not only sealed the minor premiership but put Bundanoon through to the champion of champions tournament which will be held at Yerrinbool in two weeks time.
After defeating Moss Vale in the cup final and then drawing against them, Bundanoon will again face its main rival in week one of the finals.
"We've just got to keep our passing game strong and have the commitment to win our one on ones and challenge for the ball, especially against their older players," Day said.
